Mama Dance! Music Solutions has recently been styling on the motor vehicle TV ad front! They placed the Skwatta Kamp track "Bumpa 2 Bumpa" in the latest Nissan Micra TV and radio ads, as well as placing a song called "Get the Feeling" by Arryn Eldon in the very funny Kia Sportage ad.
"Choosing the perfect tracks for TV and radio ads is a tricky but fun business," says Craig McGahey, owner of Mama Dance! Music Solutions, a company that specialises in music supervision, music searches, clearances and licensing. "Taking the brief, searching and compiling tracks for a client is the fun part - negotiating a reasonable deal between the copyright owners and clients is the tricky part!"
Luckily the company has been placing mostly South African music in commercials. The cost of using South African tracks is generally more reasonable than using well known international songs. The clearance times are also faster as the record labels, publishers, composers and artists are usually all in the same time zone!
Mama Dance! was approached by agency singh&sons to find a song that was "happy... a little naïve..., from the 60's, a time when love was happy and bouncey without being ironic... with a sing-along quality that doesn't become cheesy." They did a search on their database of over 20 000 (mostly South African and African) tracks and came up with 12 options, all South African and generally within the client's budget. A track by talented composer/artist Arryn Eldon called "Get the feeling" came out the winner. The track was cleared, separates organised and contracts signed within three days so that tight final audio mix and broadcast deadlines were not missed.
On the commercial side, the company has also recently sourced, cleared or composed music for Nissan Micra, Guinness Malta, Ackermans, PEP, Coca Cola, Metropolitan Life, Nando's...
